Too big, will not stay in place
I know I have a small head, but this doesn’t even tighten on the back adjustments tight enough to hold it in place. Hopefully at some point they will consider making a smaller version instead of one size fits all
No love for large craniums
I ordered the Shred Ready Standard Full-Face helmet because I'm starting to paddle more difficult (Class IV) rapids, and also doing some creeking. I think the helmet is a great design, except for one thing. This helmet doesn't fit any heads larger than about 7 1/4 hat size. After removing both fit pads, I was able to force the helmet down over my 7 3/4 sized head. It was like some sort of Medieval torture device, and I immediately started to remove it. I had even more difficulty getting it off. I have since tried another Full-Face helmet from another brand. While it was larger, I still max it out, and there's no way I could wear even a thin neoprene hood under the helmet. I have one last brand to try. I know that it is difficult to cover every possible size, but I know of several other paddlers, who are in the same situation, unable to find a full-face helmet that's large enough.
Full Face Helmets
My wife and I use these helmets in waterski jumping and we have found them to be the best on the market. I recommend them to anyone jumping !
I trust this helmet to keep me safe.
I have purchased two Shred Ready Standard Fullface helmets over my paddling career thus far (8+ years). I like to retire helmets after several years of use, and I knew I could rely on another high quality experience by purchasing another SR helmet. This helmet has kept me safe in some very scary situations that should have caused me to get a concussion. But I did not have a concussion, even though my head bounced off of multiple underwater rocks while paddling whitewater. I am so thankful for the high quality product that SR delivers, and I know that the SR team would never let the quality of their product slip when material cost goes up. It has NEVER failed me and continues to work on 100's of paddling trips. This helmet has kept me safe on class I to class V whitewater, rock gardens, and dynamic surf zones. Due to the flexibility of the helmet's sizing, I am able to wear the same helmet regardless of the weather. I can wear it on hot summer days, then change out the pads for winter and wear a neoprene hood under the helmet with it still fitting comfortably.
